I’m so excited to be a part of your senior year and all it entails. We have lots of fun decorating for the first day, having an epic mascot presentation, having the best Pumpkin Day costume, doing yearbook pages…and that’s all before the early application November 1st deadline! (Yipes!)

All right Ladies,
So now that I have your attention I want to deliver a few announcements to you guys!
1. LATM: Do you remember what it was like to be in middle school? Did you feel lost or alone? Well here is an opportunity to help other adolescents through the bleak throbbing hell that is Middle School (too much?) Los Angeles Team Mentoring has an afternoon mentoring program with kids at John Burroughs every Wednesday. As a teen mentor, I can honestly say its so much fun and it doesnt take that much time at all. If you are interested in joining for next year talk to Ms. Brown (Laurie not Tinka).
2. Tomorrow: Don’t forget to come to the Collins Room tomorrow at A for our LAST CLASS MEETING OF THE YEAR! Its been a great run and we want to go out with a BANG!
3. Ultimate Frisbee: If you have been living under a rock or had a sudden bout of blindness and deafnees, we will be DEFEATING the sophomores in Ultimate Frisbee at A (last period) on Friday. I think we should pull out all the stops for this one guys. I’m talking shirts, war paint and battle cries. (Alix is on it) Its really important that we use this opportunity to start our reign of total domination early.

This week (4/19-4/23), ACUTE and the Campus Environment Committee are putting on an Earth Week surrounding Thursday’s Earth Day. Please show your support by participating!
Here are the details:
-Tuesday-Friday: Electronics drive competition
The grade that brings in the most electronic waste, or e-waste, will win a free dress day on a day to be determined! Bins will be at the Front Bricks all week until Thursday so make sure you bring in your broken or unwanted electronic appliances such as print ink cartridges, laptops, mp3 players, cameras, etc.
Let’s get the most electronics because I want free dress!
Tuesday 4/20: RECYCLE: ACUTE eco-sale in front of Café M
Come buy delicious baked goods and reusable lunchware! All proceeds go to the World Wildlife Fund. You can use your reusable containers, water bottles, etc. for the no waste lunch on Thursday.
-Wednesday 4/21: REUSE: ACUTE eco-sale continued
-Thursday 4/22: REDUCE: The 40th Anniversary of EARTH DAY!
FREE DRESS: Wear green to support Earth Day!
No waste lunch! Use the reusable lunchware you bought on Tuesday and Friday from the ACUTE eco-sale. For those of you bringing a lunch, Café M has more ‘green’ lunch options. You will get a discount at Café M if you bring your own plate, silverware, or container.
Since Thursday’s theme is ‘reduce,’ try carpooling, walking, taking the bus, or riding a bike to school!
ASM will celebrate Earth Day and provide tips to help you live green!
-Friday 4/23: Winner of the electronics drive will be announced!

THIS MONDAY, 4/19 AT LUNCH IN DR. COTTINGHAM’S ROOM WE WILL BE HAVING A SENIOR SWEATSHIRT COMMITTEE MEETING!
If you have any interest in being a part of the brainstorming process for sweatshirt design, PLEASE COME!
We will not be choosing the final design (that will be chosen by a class vote later this month) but we will be narrowing down the options to present to the class in a class meeting coming up.
